Mike Chism has joined the Gophers football program as a strength and conditioning coach.
Chism was a graduate assistant for the Gophers in 1997-98, and served under Kentucky head coach Guy Morriss as the Wildcats' director of football operations the past two seasons. He's also served as an assistant at Kutztown (Pa.) State, and played on the defensive line at Kentucky from 1986-89.
Chism joins Dwayne Chandler as strength and conditioning coaches for the Gophers, who open play Aug. 30 at the Metrodome against nonconference foe Tulsa.
