Mack Hearing From Gophers

The Gophers have been looking to become a force when recruiting the state of Florida. This year looks to be no different as Minnesota has been active in the Sunshine State. One player that the Gophers are looking at is Dade Christian (Fla.) defender Sterling Mack

Mack is a 6-foot-1, 212-pound linebacker and defensive end hybrid.

"Some schools like me as an inside linebacker but want more schools to see me as a rush hybrid linebacker so I can cover and rush the quarterback," he said.

As a player, Mack describes himself as a versatile athlete.

"I would describe myself as hardworking and easily coachable and I'm able to work into any system of a team's defense," he said.

This combination has created interest from a number of schools.

"It's going pretty well," he said of his recruitment. "I have talked to FAU, Minnesota, Duke, and Illinois State."

Mack would like to get in more contact with the Gophers.

"I get some letters and information about the school and the linebacker coach sent me his number but I haven't talked to him yet," he said.

Mack already sees aspects of the Gophers that he finds appealing.

"I like that they run a good defense and a system," he said. "I'm used to and I think I will be able to easily fit into the school society."

With schools interested, Mack knows what he is looking for when talking to teams.

"Honestly I want a school where I can better my game, get a good education, and really develop as a person," he said. "I try to keep my future in mind when I talk about college."
