Ribalta Planning Minnesota Visit

Although the Gophers will have solid depth at offensive line in 2012, they are still looking to add some key contributors. One such player is Hialeah (Fla.) offensive guard Jomel Ribalta. Ribalta holds an offer from Minnesota and is looking to visit this summer.

At 6-foot-4, 340 pounds, Ribalta possesses great size for an offensive guard. He describes himself as a big man who can move.

"[I have] quick footwork for a big guy," he said. "I have explosive hands and I'm aggressive and have good technique."

This combination of size and athleticism has led to interest from a number of top teams. Ribalta lists Miami, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Alabama and Minnesota as teams that have expressed interest.

The Gophers have already offered Ribalta and are near the top of his list.

"I wouldn't mind going to Minnesota," he said." I just want to visit the school so I can see if it's a good fit for me, see if I like the campus get good with the coaches and meet the players."

Ribalta is hoping to take a visit to the Twin Cities over the summer.

"I was thinking about taking a visit there this summer," he said. "Me and my other two teammates, George Williams and Jerrol Mobley because we all got offered by Minnesota.

While taking visits, Ribalta knows what he is looking for in a school.

"I'm looking for a good academics program, different varieties of different people, and good environment – just a school that I can be successful at," he said.

While still garnering interest from a large number of schools, Ribalta does not plan on committing soon.

"I want to commit to a school later on in my senior year so I can rack up on the most offers and then I can then choose from there."
