Gophers Offer Florida Linebacker

The Minnesota Golden Gophers extended an offer to three-star linebacker Anthony Walker from Monsignor Pace High School in Miami (Fla.).

According to Scout.com's Mike Bakas, the Minnesota Golden Gophers extended an offer to Miami (Fla.) Monsignor Pace linebacker Anthony Walker on Thursday night.

Walker dominated a Nike Combine in March when he ran a 4.48-second 40-yard dash and had a 35-inch vertical. He measured in at 6-foot-1, 207 pounds.

As a junior, Walker recorded 65 tackles, with five interceptions and three fumble recoveries.

Walker not only excels on the field, but in the classroom as well. He claims a 4.6 GPA and a 23 ACT score.

Scout's Take: At 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds, Walker has played mostly safety at the prep level but because of his size and physical style of play he projects as an outside linebacker in college. He's a very smart kid who understands the game very well and is the son of a coach. Look for him to become a major college prospect in the next few months leading into the spring evaluation period.
