Illinois DE Plans Minnesota Visit

Defensive line has always been an important position to recruit for Jerry Kill. With no commits yet on the line for 2013, the staff is looking to add size and speed on the end. One player who fits this description is Montini Catholic (Ill.) defensive end Freddy Beaugard.

Beaugard is a 6-foot-3, 235-pound defensive end who currently holds an offer from North Dakota. Along with the offer, Beaugard has recently been hearing from the Golden Gophers.

"They really like the way I play the defensive end position," he said.

This interest has led to a potential visit for Beaugard.

"They want to see me down at their camp and I'm going on June 17th," he said.

Interest in Beaugard is hot enough that Jerry Kill himself called the defensive end.

"I got a phone call from Coach Kill two weeks ago," he said.

Beaugard has found a number of things that he likes about the Gophers.

"The coaching staff is very close and they're serious about winning and getting better as a football team," he said. "I also like playing in the Big Ten and the education [Minnesota] offers.

Along with interest from Minnesota, Beaugard has been hearing from a few other schools including Illinois, Wyoming, Northwestern and Eastern Illinois.
