McKinzy Camps at Minnesota

With an offer from the Golden Gophers already in hand, 2014 quarterback prospect Dimonic McKinzy visited Minnesota for a one-day camp and to get a closer look at the program.

"The camp was pretty cool," McKinzy said. "The thing that stood out to me was the hospitality the coaches showed me, the new facilities they have and the offense they run."

McKinzy, who already has scholarship, offers from Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska, worked with various Gopher coaches during camp but particularly liked working with Minnesota quarterback coach Jim Zebrowski.

"To work with Coach Z was pretty exciting because he is the type of coach I could relate to," he explained.

In addition to competing at the camp, the 6-foot, 180-pound McKinzy spent time with the Gopher coaches learning about the Minnesota program and discussing how he would fit into the offense as a quarterback.

"I spent time talking to Coach Z, Coach Kill, and the running back coach," he said. "They were showing me how they run their offense. They like how flexible I can be with the option and the passing game and also the running game."

The talented signal-caller from Kansas City (Mo.) finished his sophomore season completing 82-of-123 (66.6%) passes for over 1,400 yards and 18 touchdowns.
