Chapman Hoping for Gopher Offer

One of the top performers from Jerry Kill's most recent senior camp was Port Huron (Mich.) athlete Mark Chapman. Chapman had a great camp and received some positive feedback from the Minnesota staff. GopherDigest.com recently caught up with Chapman to discuss his recent performance in front of the Gopher coaches.

Chapman is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound athlete out of Michigan. While he played quarterback in high school, the Gopher coaches worked out Chapman at wide receiver, a position he excelled at during camp. His camp was good enough to gain the attention of some of the Minnesota staff.

"I guess the whole offensive staff was impressed after talking to Coach Reeves and Coach Kill," he said.

With so few scholarships this cycle, Minnesota has yet to offer Chapman but is still considering it.

"They said to be patient with them because of the little scholarships they have they're really evaluating everyone this year," he said. "Coach Kill said my performance put me in a great position for an offer. Coach Reeves said that it should hopefully be coming soon. So I'm saying my prayers."

A Gopher offer is something that Chapman is hoping for after his visit.

"I really liked everything," he said. "The campus was lively and the coaches were good guys."
