Stelter Has A Leader

The Gophers had one of their top targets on campus in Owatonna (MN.) defensive end Andrew Stelter and he updates how his day went, his leader and how recruitment is looking

Keeping top in-state recruits home have been a top priority for Head Coach Jerry Kill and Minnesota, so they are working hard on the recruiting trails locally. Owatonna (MN.) defensive end Andrew Stelter is a top target for the Gophers and he made his way down to Minnesota to reconnect with Coach Kill, Coach Phelps and Coach Glasscock.

"It went very well today at Minnesota," Stelter told GopherDigest. "I went up there and got to hang with the coaches. We rode around the campus on a golf cart with me, my dad, Coach Kill, Coach Phelps and Coach Glasscock. I had a great time up there and the renovations are going to be awesome it sounds like, so it will be a great there for years to come. It was just a good visit."

"The coaches have been talking to me a lot. I talk to Coach Phelps the most, but my area recruiter is Coach Poore and talk to him sometimes too. I think I have a really good relationship with them. I can call them up and ask them a question anytime because they are really easy to talk to and I just love going up there and visiting them. I like the campus very much and it is fun up there."

The 6-4, 250-pound physical interior defensive lineman sits as the No. 93 defensive end and a three star recruit in the country by Fox Sports Next, but his recruitment is continuing to rise and talks about his leader.

"My recruitment is going good, but I haven't gotten offers recently," said Stelter. "I went to Stanford and did pretty well at the camp. They said they want to see my first two games before they offer me and I will see how that goes. I am hearing from a lot of other schools like Duke, Iowa State and Northern Illinois. It is kind of busy at times, but it is fun.

"I have 8 offers, but Minnesota is at the top for me. They were my first offer and they offered me last October. I know the coaching staff the best and I like the direction the program is going. I think that would be fun to stay home and play for Minnesota. I feel like everything at Minnesota is great."

The Gopher class has been hitting the recruiting trail and have been doing their best to add a new member to the class and they have their eyes set on getting Stelter to be next.

"I have talked to Gaelin Elmore and Jeffrey Jones a couple of times," said Stelter. "They are texting me every now and then saying whats up and what are you thinking about Minnesota, so we talk about that every once in awhile. I think they are building a pretty solid class right now and it is impressive."

Stelter plans on trying to go visit Iowa State in the next couple of weeks and is going to try and commit before the fall.
