Harris Talks Gopher Offer

Minnesota's new headman in Richard Pitino has been making a splash on the recruiting trail and extended a new offer out to Oklahoma City (OK.) Putnam City West senior point guard Omega Harris. The rising standout on the hardwood talks Gopher offer, his upcoming visits and much more

New Head Coach Richard Pitino and Minnesota have been very active on the recruiting trail and you can chalk up another offer to go out as Oklahoma City (OK.) Putnam City West senior point guard Omega Harris was the latest. He talks about how Minnesota's interest didn't come out of the blue and what his reaction was to the news.

"The way I found out I got an offer from Minnesota was by I had received a text from Minnesota and it said how many offers do I have," Harris told GopherDigest. "I told them I had seven offers at the moment and they said make it eight and congratulations on your new Minnesota offer! I was just shocked and very happy."

"They have been after me for awhile because the old staff were recruiting me and now the new staff is picking up where my recruitment was left off at and are recruiting me as well. I don't know too much about them to be honest, but I look forward to learning more about them."

Harris is starting to see his recruitment blossom as he currently holds eight offers with the addition of the Gophers and is now looking to see what some of these programs have to offer.

"I don't have a top list yet, but I got offers from Tulsa, Texas Tech, North Texas, Oklahoma, Wichita State, Fresno State, University of Arlington and now Minnesota," said Harris. "I do plan on taking some visits and I'm trying to set up a few visits at the moment to Texas Tech and Fresno State."

While many covet the 6-2, 170-pound floor general, he continues to work on his game and knows what side of the floor wins games, which is why he prides his play after his defense.

"I am combo guard that is very explosive and has good handles," said Harris. "I can shoot, but I really love to play defense. Making a stop can win a game and I understand that."
