New Minnesota Head Coach Richard Pitinio has not wasted anytime in locating and recruiting the players he would like in his system. The latest offer to be extended went out to Abington (PA.) Rise Academy senior small forward Kyle Kuzma. He reflects on that moment he found out that the Gophers would be offering me.
"I was talking to Coach Pitino and Coach Young," Kuzma told GopherDigest. "They told me that they wanted to offer me and I was very excited! They are really trying to take that program to another level. Minnesota would be a good fit. I don't know really too much about them, but I do like that it is in the Big Ten."
"Coach Pitino is a pretty good guy, really turned things around at Florida International, so I think he will do the same at Minnesota."
The 6-8 200-pound versatile forward holds offers from Connecticut, Memphis, Arizona State, Penn State, Utah and Texas A&M amongst many others. He notes that doesn't have any favorites at this time, but plans on visiting Utah on September 13.
While his recruitment is going well, it will only be picking up more from his impressive summer on the camp circuit and the man himself explains why he is such a difficult matchup.
"I'm a very versatile player," said Kuzma. "I can play the 2 through 4 positions. I have a good feel for the game and have great court vision. I can take on smaller defenders in the post and bring bigger guys to the outside."
