Minnesota picked up their seventh commit Monday night when Mansfield (TX.) Legacy senior outside linebacker Everett Williams decided to go ahead and pull the trigger. He held offers from Louisiana Monroe and Navy along with receiving interest from Iowa, Baylor, SMU among others, but talks about why the Gophers came out on top.
"I picked Minnesota because I liked the atmosphere, the coaches and the players," Williams told GopherDigest. "When I told the coaches the news, they were very excited (laughter)."
"The people at Minnesota stood out over others. I liked the people there a lot. They made me feel very welcomed."
The 6-2, 225-pound versatile defender that has a reported 4.53 forty time is looking to bring that athleticism to Minneapolis and hopes to get others to join the fold as well.
"Now, that I am committed, I plan on bringing a hardworking mentality and play making ability to the Gophers," said Williams. "I am going to be playing outside linebacker for them and look forward to it. "I am also going to try to recruit for Minnesota as well."
