Kafo Names Top Three

Canadian defensive end Julien Kafo talks about his top three, the relationship he has established with a Minnesota coach and much more

Montreal (CA.) Vanier Prep senior defensive end Julien Kafo has been a guy flying under the radar, but Minnesota has been watching him closely early and often in his recruitment. Now, Kafo has announced his top three, so did the Gophers do enough to make the cut?

"Yes, I have narrowed down my choices," Kafo told GopherDigest. "My top three would be Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska. They are my top three because of all the interest they have given me and I really like that. I will be visiting Minnesota on the 22nd of November. I don't have a set date yet for Nebraska or Iowa, but will be working on that. As far as when I will make my decision, I am not sure yet. I will probably decide after I take all my visits."

The Canadian 6-4, 240-pound high motor defensive end is high on Minnesota and one reason is the strong relationship he has created with defensive graduate assistant coach Mike Sherels.

"I actually talked to coach Sherels yesterday," said Kafo. "We just were talking about my season. Our relationship is great and I love him a lot! We talk a lot, so we've developed a strong relationship and he is a great guy."

He updates how his final season is going and how he is progressing from last year to this year as well.

"My season is going alright," said Kafo. "I ended the regular season with 25.5 tackles, 5 sacks, 4 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble and a interception. Overall, I still have a way to go, but I am getting there."
