Minnesota will have a strong crop of recruits in 2015 and someone that is deservedly getting looks is Red Wing (MN.) junior defensive end Nick Connelly. While his past season was simply horrible for his team, he lived up to expectations and did his job to help the team win.
"As a team our season sucked," Connelly told GopherDigest. "We didn't win a game, but personally I did great. I was really happy with how I did. I just kept getting better and better every game. One of our last games was against Chanhassen High School, where O got to play against Frank (Ragnow) the whole game on both offense and defense. It was fun! I did really good against him and I talked to him after the game for awhile and he said I'm the best player he has ever played against. That was good to hear coming from a player as good as he is."
At 6-6, 250-pounds, he already has the size and many of the attributes it takes to play for a BCS program and he talks about the early attention he is receiving.
"My recruitment is going good I guess," said Connelly. "I don't have any offers yet, but I'm getting a lot of interest from a lot of schools. I have gotten game invites from Minnesota, Nebraska, and Cincinnati. I get a bunch of stuff in the mail every week mostly from Michigan State, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Minnesota, Cincinnati, Wake Forest and Michigan."
Being a life-long fan of the hometown Golden Gophers, there is not much he doesn't like about Minnesota and he hopes to make it the big game this weekend.
"Minnesota just said a lot about how there really interested in me and they really like my film," said Connelly. "I will be going to the game this weekend at Minnesota as long as I can get off work. To be honest there's not much I don't like about Minnesota. I love the coaches there, the new stadium and atmosphere. I did grow up of the Gophers and hopefully I can make it to the game this weekend."
