Wichita (KS.) Northwest senior running back Deron Thompson made his way up to Minneapolis to watch Minnesota play Wisconsin in a tough defensive battle. While the Gophers didn't come up with the win, the talented back only saw positives from his time.
"My official visit went really good," Thompson told GopherDigest. "I liked everything about it. I got to tour the campus and hang out with the guys and ate a lot of food (laughter). We went to this meat restaurant and it was delicious."
The 5-9, 175-pound speedster running back holds offers from Colorado State, Army, Idaho, Kansas State and Minnesota. Thompson wasn't the only highly touted player on a official visit to Minnesota and he talks the vibe he was getting from other prospects.
"I talked to most of the recruits there and all of them are really good people," said Thompson. "I don't remember their names, but it seemed like they were enjoying their time."
After getting done with his official visit, how does he view the Golden Gophers and when could a decision be coming?"They are high up there and my perspective never changed on Minnesota," said Thompson. "That was my second time being there and I liked it both times. I would rate my visit a 10 out of 10 because there was nothing I disliked about the visit and everything was good. I could be deciding at anytime and I'm not sure what the factors in my decision will be."
