The Golden Gophers are making sure they add depth to their offensive line and plan on doing so through their recruiting class. Minnesota recently offered Brookfield (WI.) Central senior offensive tackle Luke Rasmussen when offensive coordinator/ offensive line coach Matt Limegrover met with him earlier this week. Today, he was on the road again by making stop to Bloomfield (MI.) Brother Rice to see senior offensive guard Jeremy Hickey.
"Minnesota did come by to see me today," Hickey told GopherDigest. "Coach Limegrover talked with me and meet with me and we talked about the recruiting situation. He said that he will be getting back to me next week, but they are pretty interested."
The 6-5, 290-pound recruit holds offers from Southern Illinois, Indiana State, Lafayette, Saginaw Valley State, Northern Michigan, Robert Morris University and Butler, but if Minnesota were to offer him, what would that mean to the under the radar prospect?
"I have been talking with Minnesota since beginning of last week," said Hickey. "It would mean a lot if Minnesota offered me because they are a Big Ten team and that would mean they consider me a guy that can help them win. With me committing if I get that Minnesota offer really depends on the timing of the offer, but if not on the spot, then at most a couple hours after."
Hickey has not only gotten it done on the football field this year, but also in the classroom by having a 3.4 GPA and 25 ACT score.
