Bak Out For Texas Bowl

News broke that junior guard Caleb Bak will not be playing against Syracuse in the Texas Bowl. We look at how that impacts the line and who will be most effected by the loss.

Junior guard Caleb Bak started the first nine games for Minnesota, but due to injury, he has been replaced by Foster Bush.

It was reported earlier today by Marcus Fuller of the Pioneer Press that Coach Kill announced that Bak will not be playing in the Texas Bowl against Syracuse.

He joins previously starting center Jon Christenson (knee) on being out for the game. Tommy Olson took over the starting center position and the Gophers will look for some of these young offensive linemen to step up.

The person that could be effected by his losses on the line the most arguably is junior running back David Cobb. It will be interesting to see how things play out and if Syracuse try to mix it up on their blitz packages and force Gopher quarterback Philip Nelson to beat them through the air.
