Bill Miller Heads South To FSU

Head Coach Jerry Kill lost his first assistant coach in his four years at Minnesota when assistant head coach/linebacker coach Bill Miller departed the Golden Gophers for the national champions Florida State Seminoles

Assistant Head Coach/Linebackers Coach Bill Miller has left the Minnesota Football Program for the linebacker coaching position at Florida State. This was announced yesterday by Coach Kill at his press conference.

Miller had two stints in Minneapolis with being on the coaching staff from 1986-1988 and 2011-2013. The Sunshine State is a place Miller is very familiar by coaching both at Florida and Miami during his 36 year coaching career.

The defensive had strides this season and the linebacker core was improved under his time with the Golden Gophers. The biggest loss with Miller leaving the staff will arguably his recruiting prowess and how many kids loved him. He primarily recruited Florida and the JUCO ranks for Minnesota.

Spring practice begins on Tuesday and with this veteran coaching staff still very much intact, Coach Kill will probably look to find his replacement not right away, but before spring practice ends.
