"Yes, I have heard from Minnesota, Simmons told GopherDigest. "I've gotten an email from one of the coaches and lots of mail. It hasn't been nothing much yet, it's still kind of early. They just asked me for my basic information and stuff. I was supposed to friend request one of the coaches, but it totally slipped my mind. The mail I have gotten is basically just telling me about what a great school Minnesota is. I like the school and it's a good university in one of the best conferences, so it'll definitely be one of the schools I seriously consider."
"It would be very big if Minnesota offered me. I'm going to do my research and get into more contact with the coaches, but I already know that I'm going to like what their program has to offer, so an offer from them would be really big. If I'm given the opportunity to be a Minnesota Gopher, I'll look forward to entertaining them."
The 6-3, 175-pound Simmons is starting to become more of a well-known recruit over the country and he can tell through his recruitment ramping up.
"My recruitment is going really good," said Simmons. "I have offers from Western Michigan, California, Purdue, Rutgers and Buffalo. I should be coming up on a few more offers soon according to a few colleges. UConn and Boston College said they're going to offer when I visit. A bunch of other schools have told me that I'm their top guy, but you know how that is. I have gotten a lot of interest from Indiana, Maryland, and Wake Forest too."
As far as visits go, Simmons has a full agenda ahead and gives the latest on how his calendar is shaping out to be like.
"If Minnesota offers me, then I'll use an official," said Simmons. "I'm going to Temple, UConn and Boston college all within the next month. UConn on April 5th and Boston College probably the 6th."
