Tough Decision Ahead For Ruhland

Cary-Grove (IL.) highly touted offensive guard Trevor Ruhland knows he will have a tough decision to make when he decides to commit, but is still looking around at several places like Minnesota

The Golden Gophers are looking to re-stock their offensive line and plan on making that a priority on the recruiting trail. One of their top targets is Cary (IL.) Cary-Grove Community High junior offensive guard Trevor Ruhland, who took an unofficial to Minneapolis on Tuesday and wanted to see how coaches and players go through their day.

"My mom and I left early morning to get up there to make sure we got up there for the positions meetings before practice," Ruhland told GopherDigest. "We actually met with Head Coach (Jerry) Kill prior to the meetings. After the meetings, we went out to practice and watched and learned how they practice. Once practice was over, we said our goodbyes and headed back home. It was a long day, but certainly a good day! It was important for me to see (Offensive Coordinator) Coach Limegrover coach as well as interact with the players."

"I like Minnesota. I believe it is a program that is on the rise and a lot of good things are happening. I'm excited for the program and the Minnesota fans, I think they are on the road to even greater success! They have all the pieces in place."

The No. 22 ranked offensive guard in the nation and a three star recruit by Scout holds offers from Notre Dame, California, Duke, Illinois, Kentucky, Nebraska, Purdue, Syracuse amongst others. The 6-4, 270-pound lineman is now conflicted what is the next best step to take in his recruitment.

"Both Head Coach Kill and Coach Limgrover said to me to take my time, make sure it's the right decision," said Ruhland. "They'll be stopping by the school for a visit over the next couple of weeks. I have a very tough decision in front of me."

"I mean also if I want to decide soon is another tough decision I got. My mom and my dad continue to say let's make sure all the pieces are together before we decide. I think we are getting close, but are not ready just yet."

With a decision possibly looming for Ruhland, he breaks down the factors he will be taking into consideration when the time comes.

"I don't really have a order of the factors, but location to home, coaching staff, education, what I feel comfortable with, program tradition among a several others," said Ruhland. "We are trying to narrow down the schools, but haven't done that yet."
