Gophers Check On Kansas RB

Minnesota has made some noise recently in Kansas and wide receivers coach Brian Anderson made a stop to check on one of the state's best tailbacks. Find out who and what he thinks of the Golden Gophers inside now!

The Golden Gopher coaching staff has been on the road as of late scurrying around the nation for top talent and has put a emphasis on recruiting the state of Kansas. Wide receivers coach Brian Anderson was in the Sunflower State this past week and checked on a under the radar prospect in Pittsburg (KS.) junior running back Alex Barnes.

"I have heard recently from Minnesota," Barnes told GopherDigest. "Coach Anderson visited my school and I get letters from them almost daily. I did talk to Coach Anderson and he said that they were very interested in my skill set and I'll probably take a visit sometime in the summer. I am pretty interested in Minnesota."

The 6-0, 212-pound tailback, who runs a reported 4.48 forty time, still waiting to see his recruitment take off. However, he is hearing from several teams, but is eager to find out more about what the Gophers have to offer.

"My recruitment is going good," said Barnes. "I am hearing from Kansas, Kansas State, Arkansas, Nebraska, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Minnesota, and Wyoming. I am just excited to learn more about the Minnesota football program."
