Alpharetta (GA.) Milton junior safety Obe Fortune coming into this spring was a true definition of a sleeper by holding zero offers. That has all changed in the last few weeks by landing offers from Wake Forest, Iowa State, Appalachian State, Middle Tennessee, Arkansas State and with his latest coming from Minnesota. He talks about his Gopher offer and if he might make a trek up to Minneapolis?
"It was right after practice and my coach came up to me, "He was like "Obe, you got the offer" and I was like are you serious (laughter)," Fortune told GopherDigest. "I thought he was joking at first, but he was serious and told me congrats. I just really excited to get this offer. I definitely didn't see this coming. The first day they came, I shook the coach's hand and he said hi and that was about it. Next thing I know, I got a offer from them."
"I don't know too much about them, but I mean Minnesota is up north and I kind of like up north places, but I just have to get to know the program, the school and the coaches. Oh yeah, definitely I will check them out and visit. I am just excited to see what happens and the relationship me and the coaches are going to build. We will see where it goes."
The 6-0, 175-pound ballhawk has seen his recruitment start to pick up and is taking everything in he receiving now by planning to check out quite a few campuses this summer.
"I am enjoying every little bit of my recruitment," said Fortune. "Every offer and every school that is interested is great. I will visit Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State and I will try to visit honestly every school that has offered me. I am trying to knock out a lot of schools and I am looking to do that this summer."
