Craighton Picks Up Gopher Offer

Minnesota is looking to once again dip into Louisiana and secure some of the elite talent the state produces. They offered another recruit down there in Geismar (LA.) Dutchtown junior safety Alonzo Craighton and he discusses the Gopher offer

A state that Minnesota has put an emphasis on recruiting hard is Louisiana and recently offered a sleeper recruit from there in Geismar (LA.) Dutchtown junior safety Alonzo Craighton. The long and athletic ballhawk discusses how he found out about his Gopher offer and his interest level in Minnesota.

"Coach (Jay) Sawvel and I were on the phone and he said today is the day and that I have an offer from Minnesota," Craighton told GopherDigest. "I was excited because it meant a lot to me that he gave me the chance to play at an amazing school in a Big Ten level of football."

"I'm interested and coach stopped by the school and talked to me during spring and then came to practice and got film on me, so I kind of knew it would come some time. I know a little bit about themI like Eric Decker went there. I do plan on visiting."

At 6-2, 180-pounds, schools are starting to take notice of that potential and he will look to showcase his skills this summer at several camps.

"My recruitment is getting better everyday and Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, Appalachian State, Southern Mississippi and now Minnesota," said Craighton. "Nope, I don't have any visits planned so far for this summer, but I plan on doing a couple camps at Ole Miss, Fresno State, Auburn, Mississippi State and Miami. I won't have a top list not until the summer ends, then I'll say I will focus on three schools."
