The Lone Star State has treated Minnesota well with having 10 players on their current roster from Texas. Now, they are looking to add to that total and have targeted Rice commit, Pflugerville (TX.) junior cornerback Justin Bickham. He discusses how he found out about his Gopher offer and if there is any interest towards Minnesota despite being committed?
"Coach (Pat) Poore messaged me on Facebook and offered me," Bickham told GopherDigest. "After he did, I was excited because I'm starting to get the exposure I've been working for all my life. Yes, I was surprised by the offer. I hadn't even talked to a coach before the offer (laughter). It came out of the blue."
"I am committed to Rice, but I am interested in Minnesota. I don't know much about the school or the coaching staff. I will look more into them now. I'm still a solid commit although I am open to other colleges including Minnesota. I'm excited to have the opportunity to come to a rice program like Minnesota."
The 6-0, 185-pound corner isn't someone that many Gopher fans are familiar with just yet, so the man himself breaks down his game.
"I am quick, fast, strong, and versatile player," said Bickham. "I play for my team while at the same time playing for myself. I love this game and everyday I try to better myself and those around me."
Bickham hasn't thought of everywhere he is going to visit quite yet this summer, but will look into it.
