The Gophers are looking to make a splash in the Sunshine State and offered one of their rising recruits in Miami (FL.) Killian junior cornerback Sheldrick Redwine. The athletic corner talks about his conversation with H-Backs/Tight Ends Coach Rob Reeves and if he could be visiting Minneapolis?
"I was talking to Coach Reeves and we talked for about 3-4 minutes regarding the school and then he told me they wanted to offer me," Redwine told GopherDigest. "I was very happy about it. I am interested in Minnesota. It is a great academic program, a great school and in a good conference. They are on the rise and I will try to make plans to visit them in the future."
One time a West Virginia commit, the 6-1, 185-pound physical corner is back to square after decommitting and has plenty of options with up to 23 offers. At the moment, he doesn't have a top list, but is more concerned on getting better in his game and with his team after losing in the second round of the playoffs last season.
"Our past season, we started slow, but picked it up," said Redwine. "We lost in the second round of the playoffs. I had a decent season and I could have played better. I could have made more plays, but I am just trying to improve on that. My hips, my footwork, my strength and my confidence most of all improved from the season."
"My confidence wasn't lacking, but it was confidence I should have had at my position throughout the year, I didn't really have. After this past season, it has really improved. I go to the weight room and park with some teammates. We do cone drills, other drills for like 3 to 4 hours. I just want to get better as a team and try to win that championship next year."Redwine recently visited Florida Atlantic and will be camping at South Florida later this month. He will be visiting Kentucky on July 17th and Alabama on July 21st.
