Tampa (FL.) Plant High School produces some of the top talent around the nation and schools from everywhere look to pouch on it. One of the rising players coming out of the traditional powerhouse is junior cornerback Derrick Baity.
At 6-2, 170-pounds, this long, rangy and athletic corner has coaches biting at the chops to reel him in and Gopher secondary coach Jay Sawvel feels the same way as he offered him recently.
"Coach Sawvel called me about the offer and I was excited, but stayed humble about it to show that this has happened to me before," Baity told GopherDigest. Yeah, it was a surprise to me because I didn't know they were interested in me."
The three star defensive back holds offers currently from Florida Atlantic, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Iowa State, Oregon State, South Florida, Syracuse, Central Florida, Utah, Wisconsin and now Minnesota. With the Gophers entering the mix later, does that effect their chances at landing Baity?
"I'm highly interested in anyone interested in me," said Baity. "I don't know anything about Minnesota yet and I have to see it."
