Panthers Move First on Coughlin

Eden Prairie (Minn.) class of 2016 outside linebacker Carter Coughlin talks about his Pittsburgh offer he earned at camp.

Carter Coughlin made the trip from Minnesota to Pittsburgh today for the Panthers' summer camp, and the 6-foot-4, 200-pound linebacker left with his first offer.

"I'm so excited," he said. "It feels so great. The defensive coordinator and one of the linebacker coaches told me before hand said 'Carter we were so impressed with you. I ran a 4.51 forty, the fastest I've ever been clocked at."

After that, the Eden Prairie standout had a chance to speak with head coach Paul Chryst.

"They were impressed with my speed and I compete really well and he said they will end up offering me but wants the head coach to be the one."

The offer is exciting to Coughlin because of what he saw of the campus on Saturday.

"Pitt seems awesome. It's kind of a downtown style and I don't know, it just seems like a really cool area."

On Sunday Coughlin will camp at Minnesota, then head to Michigan State next week. He is leaving the door open for future camps, but says he wants to see how the summer develops.

The Gopher camp could bring more good news as well.

"Yeah they're really excited to see me."
