The Sound Mind Sound Body in Detroit, Michigan was another huge success this year and the whole Minnesota coaching staff made the trek to the Great Lake State to check out the tons of talent. One guy that shined from his performance was Burlington (ON.) Lester B. Pearson sophomore defensive end Luiji Vilain, who earned a Gopher offer after impressing linebackers coach Mike Sherels.
"I was at the Sound Mind Sound Body camp and my coach told me to give Coach Sherels a call," Vilain told GopherDigest. "After the camp I gave him a call and he told me I had a place at Minnesota and I would be a great fit for their defense, then he offered me."
"I was really excited because I like them a lot. I should be visiting soon with Patrice Rene and Jonathan Sutherland. I will come down for their camp. We don't know the date yet when we will camp. I think it is a really great thing and great to get the offer. I think it is a good school. I feel like if I went there, then I could start as a true freshman. That is why I want to check it out and I feel like it is a really good place."
The Canadian 6-3, 230-pound edge rusher got plenty of attention from various programs during his time at the Sound Mind Sound Body camp like Michigan. He talks about his time at the camp and his interest in the Wolverines.
"I did really well at the camp," said Vilain. "I got a lot of things from the coaches out there and overall I think I did really well. I got some things to work on. I talked to Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State and Minnesota at the camp."
"I think Michigan is really close to offering. I think they just need to see a little bit more film. That would definitely be a big offer. I like them a lot. They are a really good football team and have great academics. Overall, it is a really good school."
