Trent Jr Feels At "Home" With Minnesota

After making it on campus at Minnesota recently, Apple Valley (MN.) sophomore shooting guard Gary Trent Jr feels at home especially after landing an offer

The state of Minnesota has been producing a lot of talent recently on the hardwood and that doesn't look to be slowing down as with another underclassman rising to the top in Apple Valley (MN.) sophomore shooting guard Gary Trent Jr.

The versatile and athletic guard talks about landing an offer from the Gophers and receiving the news personally from head coach Richard Pitino.

"I was just sitting at the athletic trainers table because there were no seats available in the gym and Coach Pitino just started to have a little conversation and he said we would love to offer me," Trent Jr told GopherDigest. "I was very excited and happy that Coach Pitino had offered me. It made me feel special and that they really wanted in a way. That made the offer even more special that it came from him."

The 6-4, 180-pound standout goes more in-depth on his Gopher offer and how Minneapolis feels like home to him already.

"I'm very interested in Minnesota and it's just like home," said Trent Jr. "Living in Minnesota and watching the Gophers play over the years makes it feel like home. They will most likely be near the top in the future with many other schools."

Trent Jr also holds an offer from Texas Tech along with hearing from Indiana, Purdue, Xavier, Ohio State and Wisconsin.

He already went to the junior All-American camp in June and I also went to the Elite 100 camp in St. Louis last month as well. He will be taking some visits in July to Indiana, Xavier and Purdue.
