Hurt Walks Away With Gopher Offer

The Gophers are staying busy on the recruiting trail and pulled the trigger on one of the state's emerging prospects in Rochester (MN.) John Marshall junior power forward Michael Hurt

One of the top players in the state of Minnesota is Rochester (MN.) John Marshall junior power forward Michael Hurt. The rising forward recently made a trip up to Minneapolis and left with a Golden Gopher offer. He talks about his time in the Twin Cities and landing that offer.

“My brother and I were on an unofficial visit and we got to go around and see the campus and went to the school of health sciences to explore the education there,” Hurt told GopherDigest. “We then went to talk to Coach Pitino in his office, followed by a tour of Williams Arena. I was very excited after he told me he wanted to offer me a scholarship and it was a great feeling!”

With the visit in the books, Hurt reflects back at his favorite part of his trip, which was the tour of Williams Arena.

“They definitely gave me a lot of attention this summer attending a lot of my games, so I was hopeful they would offer. It was a great visit and my favorite part was probably the tour of Williams Arena. The arena is really awesome and they’ve made some great new renovations.”

The 6-7, 195-pound Hurt holds offers from Davidson, Drake, San Jose State, Northern Iowa, Bucknell, and now Minnesota. He is also hearing from Princeton, Stanford, Northwestern Oregon, Iowa State, Iowa, Murray State and Vanderbilt. It is still early in his recruitment and he is taking things slow and improving his game.

“Nope I don’t have a top list, said Hurt. “I am just exploring all my options. I am a versatile wing that can go inside and out and I play smart and I am a good shooter. Just working to improve my game everyday.”
