The Gophers hosted several visitors this past weekend and had an official visitor from the Peach State come in. That was Jasper (GA.) Pickens County senior running back Shannon Brooks, who described his time in Minneapolis and more.
“My visit was amazing,” Brooks told GopherDigest. “My favorite part was definitely the coaches and people there. They were so respectful and nice and was just so welcoming. It felt like I’ve known those guys forever. We got to hangout and meet the players, which was awesome. I got to see the best locker room in football history! We saw around campus and went to the mall of America.”
The 5-11, 196-pound tailback also got the opportunity to talk to Minnesota’s head coach Jerry Kill and assistant coach Pat Poore during his trip.
“Coach Kill said he could tell I was a great kid,” said Brooks. “He also said that I am a good fit for their program and Coach Pat Poore said I was also a good fit for their offense as well.”
With the visit in the books, how much impact did the official visit to Minnesota do for Brooks and did it even vault them to the top of his leader board?
“I am very interested in Minnesota,” said Brooks. “They are definitely my top school. The thought of committing has crossed my mind, but I need more time to think. I will probably commit this week. The main factors will be the people and education. 10 out of 10 Minnesota has a shot for me and Ski-U-Mah! Go Gophers!”
