Gopher Basketball Recruitin' Outlook

We sat down with Scout.com National Basketball Recruiting Analyst Evan Daniels and asked him about what his thoughts are with this Gopher class with the addition of Johnson, how good of a job Richard Pitino has done and more!

GopherDigest: What do you think of their's newest pick up in Minneapolis (MN.) De La Salle senior point guard Jarvis Johnson?

Evan Daniels: Johnson is a guy that will help provide depth in their backcourt. He’s versatile and can fill a lot of roles.

GopherDigest: How well do you think Coach Pitino and his staff have done on the recruiting trail?

Daniels: I think they’ve done a great job. They filled a lot of needs and were able to bring a great backcourt class that should be able to help them away.

GopherDigest: What do you think of that backcourt combination Coach Pitino has now with Jarvis Johnson, Kevin Dorsey and Dupree McBrayer?

Daniels: This gives Pitino a lot of options and a lot of versatile. Dorsey is tough and competitive, McBrayer can really shoot the ball and has a great feel, while Johnson is versatile and can play multiple positions.

GopherDigest: Overall, how good do you think this class could be?

Daniels: It is ranked as a top 20 class, so it is good group. They needed to bring in some stellar guards and a size in the post and they did just that.
