Garcia Stays Home

Head Coach Jerry Kill and co. landed a huge commitment from four star junior in-state defensive tackle Jojo Garcia when he committed to become a Gopher

The Gophers kicked off their 2016 recruiting class with a bang on Wednesday night when highly touted in-state junior defensive tackle Jojo Garcia announced his commitment to Minnesota. The Woodbury (MN.) East Ridge talented defensive linemen committed to long time lean Minnesota and was no shock to many.

The 6-3, 270-pound mauler held offers from Michigan State and Western Michigan while also hearing from Notre Dame. Garcia was a standout at several summer camps like at the RAS camp and the Sound Mind Sound Body camp as well.

He is ranked the No. 16 ranked defensive tackle in the nation and a four star recruit by Scout.com. Overall, this is a nice pick-up for the Gophers and was definitely one kid the coaching staff targeted early in the recruiting process. He is also the No. 2 ranked junior in the state.
