Minnesota has accepted an invite to play Missouri in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl. The game is scheduled for a 12 p.m. CST kickoff in Orlando, Florida. This is the Gophers first appearance in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl and first January bowl game since 1962 when they beat UCLA 21-3 on Jan 1, in the Rose Bowl.
In Minnesota's bowl history, this is their 17th bowl game all time and second time in Florida. The Gophers are 3-4-1 all time against Missouri, but hasn't squared off against the Tigers since 1970. Big Ten Coach of the Year in Jerry Kill also etched his name in the history book by leading the Gophers to three straight bowl games. He becomes the second coach to ever to that in Gopher history joining Glen Mason.
The Gophers finished the season 8-4 and were picked to finish 5th in the B1G West in the preseason media poll. It is also the first time Minnesota has recorded eight wins in two straight seasons. Last time that happened was in 2002 with 8 wins and 2003 with 10 wins.
This will be a very tough game by the Gophers going against the SEC East champions in the Missouri Tigers, who finished 10-3 overall on the season.
