Beal Not A Done Deal?

Grand Rapids (MI.) Ottawa Hills senior wide receiver Sam Beal has been committed to Western Michigan since the summer, but could the Gophers now be a player for his services? Find out inside and much more!

With Signing Day less than a month away, the Gopher coaching staff has hitting the recruiting trail hard trying to finish up their class. Minnesota has had success in the Great Lake State lately and just recently reached out to Western Michigan commit, Grand Rapids (MI.) Ottawa Hills senior wide receiver Sam Beal. The under the radar wide out talks about his conversation with the Gophers and if there is any interest on his end.

“I recently had contact with a couple coaches and they all explained their interest in me and me joining the program,” Beal told GopherDigest. “I am interested in Minnesota just as much as they are interested in me. I don’t know too much about them, but I’m sure I can find some stuff out.”

What would it mean to the 6-1, 175-pound Beal if the Gophers did extend an offer out to him?

“That would mean a lot to me and also to my family,” said Beal. “I would be the first in my family to go to school out of state and to play in the Big Ten would be amazing.”

Beal stills considers himself a solid Bronco commit, but an official visit to Minneapolis could be in the works soon after talking with Gopher wide receiver coach Brian Anderson.

“Yeah, I think might take an official visit,” said Beal. “I was discussing that with Coach Anderson. I am not sure of the date, but I think the next time I speak with him, then we are going to set a date. You can tell (Coach Anderson) is good with his players. He goes in great detail with things and he seems like a good catch.”
