Here is a breakdown of Minnesota's newest commit, Lafayette (MN.) Comeaux senior wide receiver Hunter Register. We look at his strengths, weaknesses and overall take

Strengths: At 6-4, 190-pounds, Register is a big bodied wide receiver that can be a nightmare for defenses with his size. He is a deep threat and he certainly displayed that in his high school career and that will help this Gopher offense with him stretching the field. He has good hands and attacks the ball at his highest point. Going back to that size, he can out-jump the defender or defenders and make the tough catch in traffic. One last impressive part to his game is the physical nature he plays with. Throughout his film, you notice he uses the stiff arm frequently and features his strength by not being easily able to be taken down.

Weaknesses: I noticed in his film he ran a lot vertical routes and he just looked to just Randy Moss the defender a lot of the time. He needs to sharpen up his route running ability and show he can make a crisp curl route instead of just always doing the straight shot going down field. His speed is also something that won’t wow you, but he does have enough speed to get the job done.

Overall Take: I really like this pick up by the Gophers getting Register. He adds that deep threat to their passing game that they have been lacking and that showed open up the field for quarterback Mitch Leidner. Minnesota didn't have any wide receiver commits in the class, so this verbal from Register definitely fills a void.
