Gophers Watching Another Edwards

The Gophers have looking to make a dent in the Great Lake State with their recruiting efforts and have been keeping tabs on Chelsea (MI.) junior wide receiver Bailey Edwards, who is pretty familiar with the Minnesota football program

With Signing Day quickly approaching, most schools are trying to finish up their recruiting class, but that hasn’t stopped them from looking into next year’s class. One of the fastest rising players is Chelsea (MI.) junior wide receiver Bailey Edwards. The long and speedy wide out has great bloodlines and even a connection to the Gophers with his older brother being a redshirt freshman Berkley Edwards at Minnesota. The younger Edwards updates his recruitment so far and his interest level in the Gophers as well.

“It's going well,” Bailey told GopherDigest. “I've heard from schools like Minnesota, Michigan State, Purdue, Wisconsin, Miami Ohio and West Virginia."

“Coach Rob Reeves came up to Chelsea to talk but, because of rules, couldn't say much. He did say from the moment him and Coach Kill first saw me back when they were recruiting my brother that they thought they really wanted me out in Minnesota and still plan for that. I'm pretty interested in them. They have a nice campus and great coaching staff.”

If the Gophers were to extend an offer out to the 6-2, 180-pound Edwards, what would that mean to him and getting the chance to play with his brother too.

“It would mean a lot,” said Edwards. “Especially since they could potentially be my first offer. It'd be pretty cool to suit up in the same uniform with (Berkley)."
