Edwards Lands "Unreal" Offer From Gophers

Minnesota landed three commits in last year's recruiting class from the Great Lake State and extended a new offer out to a rising junior from Michigan in Chelsea's wide receiver Bailey Edwards

A fast rising player in the Midwest and a blazer in his own rights is Chelsea (MI.) junior wide receiver Bailey Edwards. These past couple of weeks, the speedy wide out has picked up the interest of several schools including the Gophers. On Tuesday, Minnesota made it official that they would like to bring in Edwards when tight ends coach Rob Reeves called to extend a offer, which brought him to a lost of words.

“I was just getting out of our lifting class getting ready to go to lunch when my Head Coach Brad Bush pulled me aside and put me on the phone with Coach Rob Reeves,” Edwards told GopherDigest. “The feeling unreal. I was lost for words. All I could say was thank you."

The Gophers become his first Big Ten offer and most likely not his last. The three star 6-2, 180-pound wide out definitely knows there is a lot of positives in Minneapolis especially like having his older brother in current redshirt freshman running back Berkley Edwards there.

"I am very interested in Minnesota," said Edwards. What’s not to like about Minnesota? They have a great coaching staff, winning program, great all around atmosphere. They are definitely up there. I think (Berkley) wants me up there, but he also wants me to choose the best school for me."

Edwards updates the latest with his recruitment, who holds already two offers from Western Michigan and Ball State by what new schools he has heard from along with any upcoming visits.

My recruitment is going really well and I’ve been hearing from Toledo, Eastern Michigan, Ohio and Bowling Green recently,” said Edwards. “I plan on also visiting Toledo this weekend for their junior day.”
