Kegel Feels The Love At Minnesota

The Gophers saw a familiar face back on campus when Chaska junior offensive lineman Matt Kegel took another visit to Minneapolis and talks about his time there and more

One of state’s top prospects is Chaska (MN.) junior offensive guard Matt Kegel, who has garnered interest for months now. The first school to pull the trigger and offer him was the hometown Golden Gophers. He recently made the short trek up to Minneapolis and talks about his time there.

“It was good,” Kegel told GopherDigest. “We went to a bunch of meetings and presentations about the school, the facilities and then we went bowling. I got also to chill with some of the players. That was my favorite part of the visit, which was just hanging with the players.”

The 6-5, 295-pound Kegel already sits as a three star by Scout and holds two other offers from Pittsburgh and Iowa State along with receiving interest Arkansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Northwestern, Oklahoma State and Oregon. Still, Minnesota Head Coach Jerry Kill has let it be known to him that they would love for him stay home and delivered that message once again during his visit.

“I talked to Coach Kill and he said I was a top priority,” said Kegel. “It felt really good to hear that from him. My leader is Minnesota. I just like the team, the coaches and the campus. It just feels very much like home.”

Kegel plans on committing half way through the season and might visit Iowa State on the 28th of this month.
