This past weekend, Minnesota hosted several unofficial visitors and with most being very highly regarded in-state talents like Mayer (MN.) Lutheran junior offensive tackle Sam Schlueter. Despite, this not being his first time on campus, it might be one of his more relaxing and fun-filled trip.
“It was great,” Schlueter told GopherDigest. “I got to check out some academic things, watch practice, got to see some more of the facilities and also got to go bowling with some of the coaches and players. The bowling was good haha, but none of us were very good.”
The three star 6-6, 275-pound physical tackle got to do quite a few different things during his time in Minneapolis, but the highlight of his visit was chilling with the Gopher players.
“I would say probably spending time with the players because it gave me a better feel for the team,” said Schlueter. “It was good with them. I liked all of them and they were all nice guys.”
The Gopher coaching staff got to chat with Schlueter while in town and also show him a more laid back approach from the hectic world recruiting can be.
“I got to talk to pretty much all of the coaches, but I talked mostly to Coach Limegrover, Coach Sherels and I got to talk Coach Kill this morning,” said Schlueter. “They just let me know that they really appreciated coming down and they’re going to keep recruiting me hard and that they hope I can come to campus again sometime soon.”
“I’ve always had a positive opinion about the coaching staff and I think they’re all really good. Some of the coaches came along bowling too and they were all actually pretty good haha.”
Schlueter hasn’t made any plans for further visits and doesn’t have a leader yet either
