Eden Prairie (MN.) junior wide receiver J.D. Spielman has seen his recruitment start to take off and his latest offer came from the hometown Gophers. He talks about how that Minnesota offer came about and what his reaction was when he got the news.
“I went to a spring practice and after it was over I met with Coach Kill and that is when he offered,” Spielman told GopherDigest. “It feels good to always get an offer from the hometown team knowing that if you choose that school you will eventually be able to play with former high school players you have played against and be able to play in front of fans that went to the same school as you.”
The shifty and speedy 5-9, 175-pound wide out holds also offers from Michigan and Iowa, but this Gopher offer, he’s definitely interested in with the ties he has to the program like Minnesota’s commit and teammate, junior linebacker Carter Coughlin.
“I’m pretty interested now that two of my former teammates are playing there in Blake Cashman and Carter Coughlin,” said Spielman. “I’m pretty tight with (Carter) and we have known each other for a long time and built up a rivalry in youth football.”
With more offers coming in for Spielman, does he have a top list or even a leader yet?
“At this point I don’t have a leader yet,” said Spielman. “I’m doing my best to keep a opened mind.”
