One of the Midwest's most highly coveted tight ends in Springfield (IL.) Sacred Heart Griffin junior tight end Albert Okwuegbunam recently took a few visits out to a some Big Ten programs

Springfield (IL.) Sacred Heart Griffin junior tight end Albert Okwuegbunam has plenty of options with over double digit offers from around the nation so far in his recruitment. Still, he is doing his due diligence over his long list of suitors and recently traveled out to a few Big Ten programs.

His first stop was to Iowa City this past week, where he checked on the Hawkeyes and left feeling very good after his conversation with head coach Kirk Ferentz and linebackers coach LeVar Woods.

“It was great and they have awesome facilities,” Okwuegbunam told Scout. “I talked to Coach Ferentz and Coach Woods. They told me that with my skill set, I could potentially have a huge positive impact on their offense. I am pretty interested."

The 6-5, 215-pound Owuegbunam, who sits as the No. 23 ranked tight end and an early three star recruit by Scout, headed up to Minneapolis this past weekend to watch Gophers spring game and felt plenty of love throughout his Minnesota trip.

“It was really great,” said Owuegbunam. “I got to tour campus and meet pretty much all the coaches. I had individual meetings with (Head) Coach (Jerry) Kill, the wide receiver coach and the tight end coach. They just expressed their great interest in me and explained how my skill set fits their program. The family atmosphere within the football program and the entire coaching staff, the facilities are also very nice. I am very interested.”
