Corbett has the Gophers on top

One of the top priorities, if not the top one remaining for this 2016 class is defensive lineman. One of the top priorities, if not the top one remaining for this 2016 class is defensive lineman. With Minnesota expected to take three or four this class, their search went south to Alabama where they offered Athens (Ala.) East Limestone defensive end Terrance Corbett last week. GopherDigest spoke with Corbett to learn more about his recruiting heading into the summer and his new Minnesota offer.

"I now have offers from Minnesota, Memphis, Arkansas State, Troy, Samford, Murray State and Hampton," Corbett told GopherDigest. "I also am getting a lot of interest from Army, Duke, Vanderbilt, Middle Tennessee and Purdue, so things are really starting to pick up here for me."

Minnesota extended an offer late last week and Corbett is definitely listening.

"I got the Minnesota offer last week and Coach Sawvel and head coach Jerry Kill were the ones one the phone when extended the full ride to me," Corbett explained. "They just said they loved my high motor and ability to rush the passer. They feel like I would be a great fit at defensive end in their defense. I'm hoping to learn about them more soon, but I'm absolutely going to try and visit this summer."

The Gophers being the Alabama defensive ends first big offer is going a long way right now.

"It was a good experience just to know that they've shown so much interest and I've been wanting these kind of opportunities for so long, it was great getting that Minnesota offer," Corbett told GopherDigest. "I have high interest in them as I like the defense and the coaches. I've also checked them out a bit online and I like the campus and surroundings."

Corbett wants to take his time, but one school is sitting on top.

"I want to decide around the end of my senior season as I'll have more time to build my options. That being said, I'm going to really try and visit Troy, Memphis and Minnesota this summer, but none of those dates are set yet. The most important thing to me when looking at all these schools is can I see myself there for the next four years and their educational programs as I have to prepare for a life after football. Minnesota is at the top of all the schools that have offered because I've felt most comfortable talking to their coaches and I think they'd be the best fit for me."
