Minnesota is still searching for their first defensive end commit and with defensive line being the biggest need for this 2016, the Gophers staff isn't afraid to go after other Big Ten commits. Minnesota offered Michigan defensive lineman and Iowa commit Cedrick Lattimore this evening and he talks about his newest Big Ten offer with GopherDigest.

"Coach Phelps called and offered me a scholarship tonight," Lattimore said to GopherDigest. "He said that I was a good fit for their program and that coming to Minnesota means I can help them win some games and become a better student as well. They offered me as a defensive tackle as I'm a great competitor and he believes after seeing me live, that I can really do big things on the defensive line at Minnesota. I actually saw Coach Phelps at Sound Mind Sound Body last week and I think he's a great defensive line coach and who ever he ends up coaching at the end of the day is going to thank him for putting them to work."

Despite his commitment to Iowa, it looks like the Gophers will get a visit before all is said and done.

"My interest is not the highest right now, but going to visit Minnesota and meeting the other coaches and seeing things can possibly change my interest level," Lattimore explained. "I plan on visiting Minnesota, but I don't know when yet. It'll probably be during my season I have a lot of practice and 7 on 7 things this summer. It'll most likely be for an official visit this fall, but I'm looking forward to learning more."
