With the Empire Weekend behind us now, GopherDigest spoke with the father of Minnesota's top in-state recruit and leader of the 2016 class in Bob Coughlin to learn more about how the weekend went and about his thoughts on the Minnesota staff.

"The weekend went pretty well," Bob Coughlin explained to GopherDigest. "I didn't actually do too much while we were up there besides drive the boys around when they were tubing and feed them, but they were a great group of guys and they had a lot of fun while they were up here. I was happy to have them."

Coughlin's son Carter, has been the leader of this 2016 recruiting class and his father couldn't be anymore proud.

"All these visit ideas such as the weekend we had at our cabin all come from Carter with no help with anyone else," Coughlin's father explained. "I don't know where he comes up with these things, but we're more than happy to help him plan them as it's important for these boys to start bonding since they'll be spending the next few years of their lives together. I'm not sure where Carter gets this initiative from, but he's a wonderful son to have around and I can't wait to see what life has in store for him."

Mr. Coughlin is very happy with his son's decision after getting to know the Gopher staff over the last few years.

"I've know the Gopher coaches for a couple years now and I can't say enough good things about Coach Kill and the direction to which this program is headed," Coughlin said. "I'm heavily involved with the Athletes in Action group at the University of Minnesota, which helps athletes grow their faith among one another has put me in touch with Coach Kill and Billy Glasscock a lot. I can't tell you how nice it is to know those guys and what they're about and I feel very good about the future of Gopher football. Knowing that Coach Kill and his staff could be here for the next decade or longer makes me very excited. They're wonderful people that have changed the direction of this program and I can't wait for Carter to be a part of it."
