Rochester (Minn.) small forward and Gopher commit Michael Hurt has been committed since the winter and after a strong start this spring in AAU, Hurt wants to go out with a bang this fall for his senior season. GopherDigest spoke with Hurt to learn more about his season and recruiting.

"The AAU season has been pretty awesome," Hurt said to GopherDigest.com."We are a really up tempo team at D1 Minnesota and who are very unselfish. We are solid on defense and I love playing with all my teammates. I'm looking forward to a great July with them. Personally, I think that I have played pretty well so far. I've been pretty versatile because we have so much size, so I'm been able to play inside and out. I've worked a lot on my ability to get dribble penetration, so I'm trying to work that in more and more. I'm been playing a lot of three and four as well."

Hurt has remained in steady contact with the Gopher coaches since his commitment.

"I've been talking a lot with Coach Pitino and Coach Johnson," Hurt explained. "It's been a lot of real general talk, but last week we were talking about how the new recruits were coming up soon and hopefully I can visit to see those guys and get to know them as they will be my future teammates. They are both excited about all the different skills that each will bring and can't wait to get to work. I'm 100% behind Minnesota and what Coach Pitino is doing there. I can't wait get up there myself and start, but I haven't heard from any schools lately."

The Rochester native has a message for Gopher fans.

"I just want Minnesota fans to know that I'm very excited to see how this season goes and even more thrilled to get up there and get to work. I'll also start doing some recruiting, but I haven't really talked to a lot of 2016 recruits although I will later on. Some guys recruitment is just starting and I know what that's like, so I'm just letting them feel everything out before I start talking to them. I know everyone at Minnesota has a hard working mentality as do I so I'm just ready to see what the future holds because it looks good."
