Minnesota remains steadfast in their pursuit of Blinn (Texas) community college defensive end Tralund Webber as he departed from the Twin Cities this morning following his official visit to Minnesota these last few days. GopherDigest spoke with Webber to hear more about his recruiting and where things stand.

"It was a great visit," Webber said to GopherDigest. "I had the chance to tour the stadium, the campus and meet some of the players and coaches. The stadium was great and it would be a fun place to play on Saturday's. It's the biggest locker room in all of football and it's amazing. The campus is amazing as well and there's so much to do, it's awesome. My host for the visit was Gaelin Elmore and he was a cool dude. He plays defensive end as well so everything I wanted to know, he had an answer to. I asked him questions about the defensive line, what practice is like and what it's like playing at Minnesota. He told me that the Gophers have one of the top defensive lines in the Big Ten and that their defense is really good. He said it's fun playing for Minnesota because all of the coaches have been together for awhile so they know what they're doing. They're a really great coaching staff and are really turning things around in Minnesota."

The Gopher coaches also made a very good first impression on Webber.

"I had a chance to talk with Coach Phelps, Coach Claeys and Coach Kill," Webber explained to GopherDigest. "First off, I think Coach Phelps is a great person on and off the field. Coach Phelps said that he likes my pass rush ability and that Minnesota really needs a JUCO DE because they'll be losing some seniors and need guys like me to replace them right away. Coach Claeys and I talked a little as well and he said the same things as Coach Phelps. He likes my pass rush ability to get to the quarterback and that they need me. Coach Kill and I talked yesterday morning and he thought I was a great person. He was telling me about academics and how the coaches have been together for a while and that I'd be a great fit in the Minnesota defense next year. I'd say my favorite part of the visit was touring the stadium and locker room, plus seeing all of the things campus has to offer. It's just exciting to see the stadium, locker room and campus as I could possibly be there next year. I also enjoyed Fogo de Chao with the coaches as it was such a fun experience."

Minnesota is still looking very good in their pursuit of Webber.

"After seeing all that Minnesota has to offer, I think Minnesota all around is a great place and school. I really could see myself playing for the Gophers. Minnesota is still my number one. Cincinnati and Kansas are trying to get me to visit so we're working on that. Honestly, if I didn't have other visits being set up, I would already sign with Minnesota. We'll see what happens."
