North Liberty (Iowa) Iowa City West offensive lineman Alex Kleinow holds an early offer from Iowa State and was a top performer at the Gophers camp yesterday. GopherDigest spoke with Kleinow to learn more about his recruiting.

"I have an offer from Iowa State that I got about a month ago now," Kleinow said. "I attended the Minnesota camp yesterday, but I also have attended camps at Missouri, Iowa, Iowa State and Nebraska. Personally, I think it went great at Minnesota yesterday except for benching and run blocking."

"The Iowa lineman spoke with a few Gopher coaches yesterday.

"I talked with a few different Minnesota coaches yesterday including Coach Limegrover," Kleinow explained to GopherDigest. "He said he was very impressed and wants me back. Coach Kill said to remember them since he said I'm going to get an offer from everywhere and that he was also very impressed. It was very cool to hear that from the head coach. I liked working with Coach Limegrover as he's a good coach."

Despite being so close to Iowa's campus, Kleinow is a general football fan.

"I never really watched football until about two years ago," Kleinow said. "I had other things to do and I was a kid. Two years ago, is when I realized I could go to the NFL, so I started paying attention."

The Gophers have caught the eye of the Iowa lineman.

"I'm interested in them as it's a good campus and there's a lot to do," Kleinow told GopherDigest. "I just need to look up what there engineering program is like. My father liked them too."
