Minnesota received very good news Tuesday night when Blinn (Texas) Junior college defensive end Tralund Webber decided to call the Twin Cities home. GopherDigest.com spoke with Webber to learn more about his decision.

"I just committed to Minnesota," Webber told GopherDigest.com Tuesday night. "I just think it's a great fit for me academically and on the field. It's a great school and has a great coaching staff, plus I enjoyed my visit there."

Webber gave the Gopher coaches a nice surprise earlier tonight.

"I first called Coach Sawvel and then later talked to Coach Kill," Webber said. "They both were excited to hear that I wanted to commit. I was going to make the call last week, but I decided on tonight to finally make the call. I was going to take other officials, but after I did research on the other schools and talked to some of my current teammates about it, I felt that Minnesota would be a better place for me. My teammates agreed as they liked Minnesota and felt it was the best choice out of the offers I have."

The JUCO defensive end will now be done with recruiting.

"I have my mind set on Minnesota and that's where I want to go," Webber told GopherDigest.com. "I'm all done with recruiting now. I'll be a three for two guy that graduates in December and the Minnesota coaches want to use me as a pass rusher as they feel that I could come in and really help out the team. I want Gopher fans to know that I'm ready to make y'all proud. Ski-U-Mah!"
