Minnesota is thinking about taking another defensive tackle along side four-star DT Jojo Garcia and one name that's come up recently is South Carolina's Zach Gilbert and he spoke with GI.

"Not too much is going on as I'm hearing from all the same schools besides Minnesota and Kansas State," Gilbert explained to GopherDigest. "I already got offered from Kansas State, but Minnesota is trying to get to know me because they may be offering soon, so we'll see."

Gilbert has been hearing from the Gophers daily of late.

"Coach Phelps and I have been in contact a lot and lately we've been talking daily," Gilbert said. "He likes my pass rush and how I can shed a block on the run. I don't really know too much about them as it's a new program to me, so I'm willing to try and figure things out about them. Location isn't really a factor to me, it just depends on how my mom's feel is on the visits I go on. An offer from Minnesota would be awesome and I would see how far I can go with them."

Gilbert has two schools that will be getting official visits this fall.

"I will be taking official visits to Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh for sure," Gilbert told GopherDigest. "I don't have dates set to those school, but they're the two recruiting me the hardest that have offered. They just stay in touch with me and keep in communication."
