Minnesota had a great crop of in-state 2017 offensive linemen at the Gophers Junior Elite camp earlier this month, including Benilde St. Margaret OL Eric Wilson. GopherDigest.com spoke with Wilson to learn more about his recruiting.

"As a whole, it went really well," Wilson said. "I caught the coaches attention in the agility drills part of the combine, so they kept an eye out for me in one vs. one's. Limegrover said he likes me a lot and that I remind him of Conner Olson last year. He said he will stop by my school and try and get me to games and then junior day in the spring and we'll see from there. I felt confident about how I did in the one on one drills too. I spoke with Coach Kill a little and just said hi. Coach Sherels said that he would be by my school and in touch as well."

Wilson has good interest in the Gophers following camp.

"I really enjoyed my experience and I got along with the coaches really well," Wilson explained to GopherDigest. "I've been watching them since I was as a kid and I've always been interested in the program. I thought I showed what I can do at camp as on the board drill, I got good foot drive on my man and didn't lose one on the pass rush as well. I performed really well with a couple of pancakes against some strong competition."

The Minnesota lineman does have a few connections to schools out east.

"I also camped at Brown, Harvard, the New England Elite camp and Yale, where I was offered a spot by," Wilson said. "My uncle was actually recruited to play football at Harvard, so I've always had interest in the Ivy League school and after I got my ACT score back of a 33, I thought I might have a chance to play Ivy League football, so we'll see what happens."

A Gopher offer would mean a lot to Benilde St. Margaret lineman.

"If I was lucky enough to receive an offer from the Gophers, I would be very thankful to all my coaches and teammates for pushing me and always telling me that I could do it even others said I couldn't. It would be an honor. I'd have to take some time and talk to my family for a long time about the decision as I'm still a long way away from making a decision."
